Our 5/8″ bowl gouge features a polished parabolic flute and is made from premium Nitrided high speed tool steel. It is shipped sharp and ground with a double bevel. We use the American method of measuring gouges, so the shank is 5/8″
Parabolic flutes give a great combination of strength and chip ejection. They are amenable to finger nail (Ellsworth or Irish) grinds, conventional bowl gouge grinds and the “40/40” grind.
The handle is hard rock maple and turned for us in Pennsylvania. The ferrule is stainless steel. Also available unhandled.
